Graduates win $1,000

Terri Gibson presents Emily Panton with her prizeTwo UniSA graduates are planning mid year getaways after winning $1,000 each for taking part in the Graduate Destination Survey.

The survey is Australia’s official annual review of where recent university graduates are at, comparing things like employment levels and starting salaries across the disciplines.

To encourage UniSA graduates to take part in the survey, this year the University offered two $1,000 prizes to randomly-selected respondents – and the lucky winners are nursing graduate Emily Panton and DBA grad Manrico Filippi.

Emily – now working as a nurse at the Royal Adelaide Hospital – was presented with her cheque on June 2 by Terri Gibson from UniSA's School of Nursing and Midwifery. She is planning to spend the money on a Bali holiday and says she’s been enjoying graduate life and loves her job. “It’s been really positive so far. I just finished a four month placement in the intensive care unit – which I thoroughly enjoyed – and now I’ve started four months in general medical,” she says.

Manrico had his cheque posted to him in Switzerland where he is working for global financial institution, UBS Ltd. “I will most probably spend the money on a weekend trip to the Swiss mountains with my family,” he says. “I want to give them something to say thank you for their support during my studies.”
