Executive Committee 2008/09

The Executive Committee members are the local representatives of Golden Key members at the University of South Australia. The role of the committee is to determine and organise an array of projects based upon the needs of the community and interests of our memberships. All Golden Key members who are still studying, have the opportunity to participate in the Executive Committee by nominating themselves at the Annual General Meeting.

Stacey Croughan, President

Photo of Stacey Croughan Stacey is a third year nursing student at the City East campus. Upon finishing her degree Stacey would like to work as a theatre/recovery, or oncology nurse. She would also like to work in the UK and volunteer for Médecins Sans Frontières in the future. When not studying, Stacey likes to read, cook, travel and relax with friends.

Stacey joined Golden Key in 2007 and has previously held the position of Social Activities Officer. During her time with Golden Key, Stacey has had the opportunity to attend the 2007 International Conference held in Atlanta, Georgia, and also the 2008 Asia-Pacific Conference held in Christchurch, New Zealand. This year as Chapter President, Stacey would like to see an in increase in chapter activities and involvement of members. She looks forward to the challenge of her role during the 2008-2009 year. Rebecca (Bec) Callahan, Vice President

Photo of Bec Callahan Bec is in her third year of a psychology degree and would like to complete honours and postgraduate study in the future. She is particularly interested in research, mood disorders and cognitive neuropsychology. As well as working casually for UniSA’s Disability Services, Bec is a Student Ambassador for the School of Psychology and mentors in both the Div. EASS Mentor Program at Magill and the First Generation University Orientation Program at Mawson Lakes.

As Vice President and editor of the new Chapter eNewsletter, InKey, Bec is looking forward to increasing opportunities for member involvement and expanding awareness of GK within the University community.


Henrik Wallgren, Graduate Advisor

Photo of Henrik Wallgren Henrik graduated from UniSA in 2008 with a double degree in Commerce and Management (HRM). He has been a member of the Committee for 3 years as the Treasurer, and has been fortunate to attend Golden Key international conferences as well as Asia-Pacific conferences. His current position as graduate advisor is to advise and assist the committee, by sharing his experiences and knowledge.

Henrik currently works full-time as a Business Advisor with Business SA, South Australia's peak employer association, where he advises members on a wide range of workplace relations and human resources issues. When not working or being involved in Golden Key, he loves watching movies and travelling.


Carolina Carlsson, Graduate Advisor

Picture of Carolina Carlsson Carolina graduated from UniSA in 2008 with a Masters degree in Business Information Systems. She now works as a Software Developer at Education.au ltd. Carolina has been on the Golden Key committee since 2005 in various roles including Webmaster, Vice president and President.

During her time in Golden Key Carolina has had the opportunity to attend the Regional conferences in Melbourne and the Gold Coast and the International conferences in Scottsdale, Arizona and Atlanta, Georgia. Conferences are a great opportunity to meet other Golden Key members from around Australia and around the world and learn more about the opportunities presented to Golden Key members.

In her current role as Graduate Advisor Carolina hopes to provide the Executive Committee with support and advice by being able to share knowledge and experience from previous years.


Azid Foondun, Treasurer

Picture of Azid Foondun Azid is an international student from Mauritius and is in second year Bachelor of Commerce. Upon graduation, he wishes to become a chartered accountant. He joined Golden Key in May 2008 and has since then been the treasurer.

This year, besides increasing awareness of the chapter, Azid hopes to encourage active member engagement and would like to ensure the UniSA Golden Key chapter remains sustainable.

During his spare time, Azid loves to watch soccer and chill out with his friends.


Rachel Tan, Secretary

Picture of Rachel Tan Rachel is an international student from Malaysia, and is in her final year of Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management degree. After finishing her degree, she hopes to get a job in Australia to gain some experience and exposure.

She is currently the secretary for Golden Key, and hopes to learn a lot from this experience.

Rachel enjoys reading, handycraft, cooking, swimming, travelling, watching dramas and long distance calls home.


Raphael Sabu, Webmaster

Photo of Raphael SabuRaphael is in his third year of a BA in Writing and Creative Communication. His major focus is on creative writing, editing and publishing, and technical writing.

He is currently Webmaster for Friendly Street Poets Incorporated, and is a Board member of the Poetry and Poetics Centre here at UniSA.

When he graduates Raphael would like to work as an editor and continue to write fiction.


Katie Brown, Education Officer

Photo of Katie BrownKatie is in her third year of a Bachelor of Education (junior primary/primary) and hopes to complete honours in 2009. Upon finishing her degree, Katie would like to be a generalist early/primary years teacher. She has a special interest in numeracy and French, but is passionate about all areas of the curriculum.

Katie has undertaken the role of Education Officer in 2008, and is looking forward to putting new programs into place at UniSA to enable current students to connect with tutors. In her spare time she likes to love and spoil her two-year-old daughter Rosanna read, cook, walk, swim and travel.


Erin Gold, Fundraising Officer

Photo of Erin Gold Erin is currently in her second year of a Business Double Degree in Marketing and Commerce. During the course of her studies Erin aspires to visit Canada or America, either on exchange or on a working holiday. Upon completion of her degree, Erin would like to become an accountant, but is open to wherever her experiences take her.

Erin likes to veg on her time off, and absolutely loves costume parties. During the summer she and her extended family spend time by the river water skiing and knee boarding behind their 60's speed boat 'Reza-Wreck-Ted'.

Erin has taken up the role of Fundraising officer in 2008, and hopes that her previous experiences raising funds with her family for the Variety Club Children's Charity will help her in raising money for the various causes Golden Key work with. Her ultimate goal is to raise enough money to send an extra committee member to the International Conference in 2009.


Sonia Gentile, PR/Communications Officer

Photo of Sonia Gentile Sonia is currently in her third year of a Journalism/International studies double degree. She has a passion for news and works as Editorial Co-ordinator at The Adelaide Hills Weekender as well as freelancing for The Warbler, Scout SA, and GroundReport. She works on The Wire, a national community news and current affairs radio program and is a tour guide at the ABC. When Sonia is not at work or uni she enjoys going out with friends and spending time with her Labrador, Oliver.

As part of the communications team, Sonia is looking forward to putting her writing skills to the test to increase Golden Key awareness among the wider student population, as well as keeping Golden Key members informed with a proposed e-newsletter.


Pattabhiraman Perambalam, PR/Communications Officer


Julia Smith, PR/Communications Officer

Photo of Jilia Smith Julia is currently in her second year of a Management/Marketing degree, and works part time in the Marketing Institute at UniSA. In her role she hopes to improve her marketing skills to assist the Golden Key. She also hopes to encourage new and current members to get involved and increase networking opportunities.

Julia enjoys travelling back to her home town on the weekends to play netball and catching up with family there. She's interested in art and travel, and plans to go on a short-term exchange overseas while still at uni, then travel through Europe after finishing her degree.


Lauren Mullinder, PR/Communications Officer


Jacinta Quarisa, Social Activities Officer

Photo of Jacinta Quarisa Jacinta is in her third year of a Bachelor of Tourism and Hospitality Management, studying at City West and Magill campuses. After finishing her degree, Jacinta would like to move into the tourism and events field within Adelaide, and has therefore taken on one of the roles of Social Activites Officer on the Executive Committee.

Jacinta looks forward to providing Golden Key members with enjoyable social activites throughout her time on the committee, and wants to promote the Golden Key to students who are invited to join.


Quin Pote, Social Activities Officer

Photo of Quin Pote Quin is in the third year of his degree in tourism and hospitality. He plans to travel and see a little of the world before settling down to focus on a career.

As a Social Activities Officer he would like to see that there are a heap of quality social events this year that excite and engage all members. In addition he hopes the use of such events will allow many current students to see a different and more casual side of the Golden Key Society and encourage them to join.

In his spare time Quin enjoys playing lacrosse, hitting the beach, hanging out with friends and planning his next big trip.


Asiri Wijenayaka, Social Activities Officer

Photo of Asiri WijenayakaAsiri finished his studies in Biotechnology and is now working as a research scientist.

He is looking forward to an exciting year ahead at Golden Key, and will be a part of the team organising the social events.

He likes sports activities and exploring the great outdoors.


Alice Staniford, General Member

Photo of Alice StanifordAlice has completed a bachelor of Psychology with Honours at UniSA and is now doing her second year of a Master of Work and Organisational Psychology degree. She is a GK veteran, and has been on the executive committee for 4 years. Her involvement in GK over the years has improved her skills in areas of leadership, project management, networking, communication and organisation.

Apart from studying Alice works at an organisational development Firm in Adelaide with a team of Organisational Psychologists. Alice is also a telephone counsellor with Life Line and Domestic Violence Helpline and volunteers for Oaktree International. She loves travelling, spending time with friends, painting, cooking, live music, swimming, exercising, and visiting her family in the Riverland.


Lucy Schulz, Chapter Advisor
