A successful fundraiser for Vinnes
Published: August 10, 2005
Monday 8th August the UniSA Golden Key Chapter held a Lamington drive outside the Library at City West campus to raise money for the St Vincent de Paul Society and to raise awareness about Golden Key.
Chris, Fei, Carolina and Alisha gathered at Alisha's house on Sunday afternoon to prepare the lamingtons. As international students it was Carolina's and Fei's first encounter with the Australian lamingtons but they soon mastered the chocolate dipping and coconut rolling skills. In total around one hundred lamingtons were prepared.
At noon on Monday the whole executive committee: Alisha, Chris, Henrik, Alice, Fei and Carolina set up the shop outside the library at City West campus. At first the business was a bit slow, but then we started walking around with trays with lamingtons and then people became more interested. The event became a great success and we managed to raise $100 for Vinnies and we talked to a lot of people about Golden Key and handed out our brochures.
