Established in 1919, University of Ljubljana is the oldest and largest higher education and scientific research institution in Slovenia. School of Economics and Business has become the first and only Triple Crown School in Slovenia and in the broader region to have been awarded the – EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA international accreditations. This achievement ranks the school among the top 1% of business and economics schools in the world. 
 
The University of Ljubljana ranks among the top 3% of universities in the world. The Faculty of Economics and Business campus is 3.5 kms away from the University’s main campus which is the city centre next to the congress square. 
 
Students of the University get free access to the sporting facilities on campus. These include access track sports, badminton, yoga and pilates studio, basketball, volleyball, swimming, alpine skiing and cross-country skiing and more. 

Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, is a relatively large central European city with approximately 300,000 inhabitants. Situated between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, this city is the political and cultural heart of the Slovenian nation and most charming in summer.

Students make up one seventh of the population of Ljubljana, giving the city a vibrant and exuberant youthful character. In 2016 the city was the European Green Capital and the city centre is now mostly car-free.

Slovenia, officially the Republic of Slovenia, is a country located in central/south-eastern Europe. It is bordered by Italy, Austria, Hungary, Croatia, and the Adriatic Sea. Once part of Yugoslavia, Slovenia is a member nation of the European Union, United Nations, and NATO. The capital and largest city is Ljubljana.

Slovenia is home to approximately 2 million people, and has one of the lowest population densities in Europe at 101 people per square kilometre. The official and most common language is Slovene, however Hungarian and Italian are also official languages. Most Slovenians are also familiar and comfortable with English.

Slovenia’s terrain is mostly mountainous and half of the territory is covered by forests. Climates range through sub-Mediterranean to alpine, depending upon the area you're in. Slovenia has significant biological diversity and is one of the most water-rich countries in Europe. The mountains offer traditional snowsports, whereas warmer regions by the seaside boast beautiful old towns and clear waters for swimming. Slovenia is getting more and more tourists every year, but is still not nearly at the levels that countries such as Germany and France experience. This makes it a wonderful country to go for exchange, as people are used to visitors and English-speakers, but you're not navigating your way through crowds during your travels.

Slovenia is a great destination for those after adventure – you can zipline the steepest descent in the world, bungee jump off the longest train bridge built of stone blocks, go white water rafting and trek through mountains and forests.

Slovenia has historically been the crossroads of cultures, being part of many different states including the Roman Empire, Byzantine Empire, Carolingian Empire, the Habsburg Monarchy, the Republic of Venice and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In a population of just two million people, there are around 90,000 beekeepers. You could say beekeeping is part of the identity of the country. It’s one of the greenest countries in the world, with a remarkable 53.6% of Slovenia designated protected land.
 
 

All students must meet standard exchange selection criteria and any host institution restrictions.

Only courses from the School of Economics and Business are available for exchange.

Credits are measured by the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) and the following applies: 

• 18 units = 30 ECTS
• 13.5 units = 22.5 ECTS 

It can sometimes be difficult to make up exactly 22.5 units (not all courses will be worth exactly 7.5 ECTS), but you should be able to get very close. Make sure you check with your PD if you don’t have exactly 22.5 ECTS.

Non-native English speakers must submit TOEFL score of 79 (IBT) or IELTS score of 6 for English, or any official certificate.

University of Ljubljana does not offer airport pick up. Students will need to make their own way to the campus from Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport.

There are very limited number of on-campus accommodation options at University of Ljubljana. Preference is given on “first come first serve” basis. More information on on-campus dormitories can be found here. Should you wish to apply to stay on-campus after you have been accepted by University of Ljubljana, please complete the online application form.

As an exchange partner with the University of South Australia, you do not have to pay tuition fees to University of Ljubljana, instead you will pay tuition as you would normally at UniSA. Travel and living expenses are at your own cost. The table below gives an indication of costs you will incur:
