Founded in 1898, Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) offers an environment for reflection and the emergence of new and pioneering achievements in research and teaching aiming to promote social prosperity and economic performance. The campus is modern and boasts a range of attractive dining options and publicly accessible grounds that encourage students, staff, and area residents to explore and enjoy its unique atmosphere.
WU’s triple accreditation by EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA is a testimonial of WU’s high quality standards. Fewer than 1% of universities worldwide can claim triple accreditation by EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA. WU is one of only six universities in the German-speaking world to belong to this exclusive group of schools.
WU’s excellent international reputation is reflected in its student population: Roughly one in four students on campus has come to study at WU from abroad.
Vienna, the capital of Austria is located in the eastern part of Austria and is close to the borders of Czechia, Slovakia, and Hungary. It is the most populous city in Austria with just under two million people and is the second largest German-speaking city after Berlin. The city is known for its highly ornate and extravagant imperial palaces and architecture. It is known as the ‘City of Music’ due to its musical heritage, attracting famed composers such as Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Brahms and Strauss. It has also been referred to as the “City of Dreams’ having been home to Sigmund Freud.Enjoy the city’s baroque architecture, parks, vibrant art and music scene, and be sure to visit its legendary coffeehouses where you can indulge in world famous Viennese desserts including apple strudel and sachertorte.
Austria, officially called the Republic of Austria, is a country in Central Europe, bordering the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Switzerland. Its central location makes it a great travel hub for Europe, with cheap access to a variety of travel methods. Its capital, Vienna, is the country's largest city, home to approximately 25% of the Australian population. The large majority of people are of Austrian heritage and speak German (though usually in a different dialect to High German). Vienna is known as a centre for music, arts, culture, and as the birthplace of the waltz. Many classical musicians, such as Mozart, were born or worked in Austria and had strong ties to the city. The Sound of Music film is one of the best-known representations of Austria, but is actually fairly ignored in the country itself. Austria is also known for its architecture, with the city centres of Salzburg, Vienna, and Graz being listed as World Heritage sites. Austria is one of the top 15 wealthiest countries in the world and is frequently listed among countries with the highest standard of living in the world. Vienna is nearly always at the top of the annual list of most liveable cities.
