Gavin Wanganeen Indigenous Scholarship Appeal
The Gavin Wanganeen Indigenous Scholarship was created to support financially or educationally disadvantaged Indigenous Australians enrolled in a UniSA undergraduate degree who have a strong will to succeed and are active in their community. In fact, it is specifically designed to support and encourage students who are already on the path to becoming role models or leaders in the community. To date we have raised over $275,000 through the generosity of our donors, however we need your help to continue to raise funds so the scholarship can be offered indefinitely.
“Please help support this scholarship and give someone with real potential that little extra support they need to achieve their academic goals” Gavin Wanganeen.

A little background on Gavin Wanganeen

He is also a premiership star, Brownlow medallist, five-time All Australian and Best-and-Fairest winner with Port Adelaide Football Club. Queenscliff Uniting Church
-
kicking goals for Indigenous education
On 4 June 2011, over 150 people attended a dinner and auction hosted by the Queenscliff Uniting Church entitled 'Kicking Goals for Indigenous Education'. The night raised $8,300 for the Gavin Wanganeen Indigenous Scholarship.
Queenscliff is a small seaside community in Victoria, situated 30km from Geelong. The Queenscliff Uniting Church is committed to being active in the community by providing compassion and concern for justice and the wellbeing of others, especially the vulnerable and misunderstood. The fundraising dinner had strong support from local businesses, organisations and individuals who generously donated items for the auction.
Guests donned their footy team's colours for the night and a personal message of thanks from Gavin Wanganeen was read out.
UniSA would like to thank the organizers of the dinner and everyone in Queenscliff who participated in this event. We appreciate their wonderful support of this important scholarship.
