Why can't I access any information about my child's study records?
The University has a responsibility towards students to make sure that all privacy laws are adhered to. Therefore, the University will not disclose any personal information about students to anyone outside of the University (including parents, spouses, or other relatives of the student).
If you would like further information, please refer to the University policy A-46.3 Confidentiality of student's personal information.
How can I pay an invoice?
You can pay an invoice via the following options:
- WebPay via myUniSA on the UniSA website
- BPay through your bank or financial institution
- Australia Post Bill Pay at any Australia Post Office
These options are also detailed on the bottom of the invoice.
Why aren't invoices posted out to us?
As part of UniSA's commitment to the environment, all student invoices are now delivered electronically to their student portal, which they access through myUniSA on the University website. It is also a faster and more efficient way to deliver invoices to students.
Students will be sent an email, via their student email account, to let them know that an invoice is available on myUniSA.
What is the difference between being in a Commonwealth supported place and being a Commonwealth assisted student?
A Commonwealth supported place means that the Commonwealth Government will contribute towards some of the payment of a student's program at University. The student needs to contribute the rest and this is called a student contribution amount.
Commonwealth assisted means that the student is eligible for HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP to help them pay their student contribution amount or tuition fees.
A student can be Commonwealth supported without being eligible for Commonwealth assistance.
Why has my child been invoiced when they requested the fees to be deferred to HECS-HELP?
All students who are accessing HECS-HELP will be invoiced for the upfront student contribution amount for each Study Period.
If your child has elected to defer this amount using HECS-HELP, please check with them that they have supplied a valid Tax File Number (TFN) via Enrol Online. If your child has done this, their student contribution amount will be deferred on the census date.
How can my child find out how much their HECS-HELP debt is?
If your child has a HECS-HELP debt, this will be detailed on their Commonwealth Assistance Notice (CAN). Your child can access their CAN from the student portal through myUniSA. Your child will receive a CAN for each Study Period that they are enrolled.
Your child can also contact the Australian Taxation Office on 132 861 (and follow the prompts) to gain their account balance. However, the data from the Australian Taxation Office needs to be filtered through from UniSA and the Department of Education and this can take several months. Therefore, your child's CAN, at the end of each Study Period, is more up-to-date.
Can student contribution amounts, or tuition fees, be deferred through HECS-HELP, or FEE-HELP, one year but then paid in full another year?
Yes. Your child can change their payment options for using HECS-HELP, or FEE-HELP, as long as it is before the census date for the Study Period. They will need to log in to Enrol Online on the website in order to change their payment options.
What is the last day that you will accept an upfront payment for student contribution amounts so that I can get a discount?
The last day to make any payments is the census date for each Study Period. Your child will know what the census dates are for their courses through Enrol Online. You can also find more information on when the census dates are from the academic calendar.
Please note that the University can not accept payments for student contribution amounts after the census date. The University needs to adhere to the Commonwealth Government's policy on payments and that means that the census date is the very last deadline for payments to be either made in full or to be deferred through HELP.
What is the minimum that I can pay to get a discount?
The minimum you can pay to receive a discount on your child's student contribution amount is $500.
What happens if we don't pay by the census date and my child has not provided a tax file number?
According to the Commonwealth Government's policy, if your child's student contribution amount has not been paid in full by the census date, and they have not provided a tax file number to defer their amount through HECS-HELP, their enrolment will be cancelled.
