FEE-HELP

What is FEE-HELP?

The FEE-HELP limit is the maximum amount a person can borrow under FEE-HELP over their lifetime. This limit excludes any loan fee.  The FEE-HELP limit in 2010 is $85,062.00 for all courses except for medicine, veterinary science, and dentistry, for which the FEE-HELP limit is $106,328.

Eligibility

How to apply

How do FEE-HELP loans work?

If you have answered yes to these questions then you will incur a FEE-HELP debt for any courses that you are enrolled in at the census date.

FEE-HELP loans are repaid through the tax system. You will not be required to pay back this debt until your income reaches a certain amount. This amount is the minimum threshold for compulsory repayments of FEE-HELP loans.

More information about FEE-HELP is also available at the Going to Uni website.

Census dates

What is a census date?

The census date if the deadline that your enrolment and fees must be finalised by for each Study Period.

There is a census date for each course in which you are enrolled and this information is available to you via myEnrolment.

Please see the academic calendar for the dates for withdraw grades.

This means that even though you may not be studying the course after the census date, you will still be required to pay fees for the entire course because you failed to drop the course in time and so were still enrolled at the time of the census date.

It is very important to be aware of the census dates for your courses. These are the dates at which all of your student enrolment details, including tuition fees, must be finalised.

Whether you choose to pay your tuition fee upfront, apply for FEE-HELP, or a combination of both, you are required to finalise all of these arrangements by the census date.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for managing your enrolment and for ensuring that all enrolment and financial details are finalised (including making sure that you are enrolled in the correct courses for your program) by the census date for each Study Period.

It is important to remember that the last day to apply for FEE-HELP assistance is the census date for your enrolment. This is the deadline by which you must have completed and submitted your Request for FEE-HELP assistance form.

Please remember that this is your responsibility and if you do not submit your completed form by the census date you will not be eligible for FEE-HELP.
