Preferred airline

The University is part of the Qantas Universities Airfares Agreement (QUAA) which includes discounts and rebates. The discounts and rebates are only available when:

When Qantas is not used the rebate system does not apply. The preferred travel agents provide Qantas with statistics of all booked travel to establish the rebates.

All bookings require that a form FS87 be completed including your cost centre code and a copy of this is provided with the invoice for payment.  University credit cards are not to be used.

In all cases intending travellers should consult with one or more of the preferred travel agents when booking flights. Our contracts with these agents specify that they must offer the cheapest fare available at the time of booking (whether Qantas or not), and they must offer an alternate Qantas flight if this is not already the cheapest available.

Qantas Club

Staff who are expected to travel frequently on University business may be provided with preferred airline club membership where an authorised supervisor deems it to be value for money expenditure. Memberships are purchased for one year at a time. Lifetime membership is not permitted.

The memberships for staff who have been identified as qualifying for the University to fund the membership are required to forward the approved application form or renewal invoice to Joanne Amey, Strategic Procurement Officer to place under a centralised Qantas Corporate Scheme.

Arrangements have also been made for staff who may wish to self fund their airline club membership at discounted rates. These costs may be salary sacrificed after payment has been completed. Contact the Salary Sacrificing Officer in the Human Resource Unit.

Airline membership will not be provided for partners.

Membership rates are:

University Funded Memberships

  1. Complete Corporate Qantas Club Application .
  2. Arrange an e-mail from the cost centre manager with VC authority confirming the expenditure, including the cost centre number for payment.
  3. Forward the completed form and authorisation to Joanne Amey, Strategic Procurement Officer, Finance Unit.

Procedure: Self Funded Memberships

  1. Complete Corporate Qantas Club Application including payment details.
  2. Insert the University of SA scheme number: 110539.
  3. Insert your full address details.
  4. Fax the completed form to 1300 305 747.

Please note: The University released Professional Development Guidelines on 29th April 2008 and these now state that PD funds may no longer be used for Airline Memberships.
