Recycling Paper & Cardboard is made easy!
Making new paper from recycled paper uses 30-50% less energy than
making paper from trees and it reduces contributions to air
pollution by 95%.
All paper material can be recycled together via the under desk paper recycling boxes. This means that magazines, newspapers, photocopy paper wrappers, books, brown papers and dark yellow envelopes can be placed in UniSA’s paper recycling bins. These bins (240L blue bins with a yellow lid, or under desk recycling boxes) will also accept staples, paperclips, post-it notes and window envelopes. Staff are reminded that they can empty their own under desk boxes into the nearest 240L bin.
Note that any paper that has been contaminated by food or liquid should not go in with the recycled paper. Food and liquid contaminate the paper and make it unsuitable for recycling. Dispose of contaminated paper via the general waste bins.
Cardboard proper, i.e. cardboard boxes, should still be recycled separately. The process is the same as before. If you have cardboard items please flatten them as best as possible, and leave them alongside your nearest 240L yellow lidded paper recycling bin or your under desk recycle box. If a staff member has a large number of items to be collected he/ she can enter a customer service request via (Online CSR) to have them removed.
