Environmental Sustainability
Waste and recycling

UniSA is aiming to reduce waste to landfill by 50% from the year
2000 total of 105 tonnes.
Recycling is one of the cornerstones of UniSA’s waste to landfill goal. As
at December 2005
the amount was down to 80 tonnes,
resulting in an achievement of a 30% reduction
in waste
to landfill .We are well on our way to reaching our target.
UniSA recycles paper, cardboard, and packaging. Although each project is at a different
stage of
development, we can claim some excellent progress. Our total
collection of paper
and cardboard for 2005 was 237,551kg or 71.2653
tonnes of CO2 emissions saved or the equivalent
of 3343 plantation
native trees.
