Greenhouse Challenge Plus                

The University was successful in reaching the final four entrants in Category 4 - Government & Essential Services of the Greenhouse Challenge Plus program.  The University was presented with a finalist’s plaque at the Awards night in Canberra on 14 September for it's success in reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 17% over the last five years.

 

The Greenhouse Challenge is a voluntary agreement between the University of South Australia
 and the Commonwealth of Australia. Through the Challenge, UniSA undertakes to put in place
 cost-effective actions to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and to encourage its staff and
 other organisations to implement similar measures.

The actions quantified in this agreement are expected to reduce UniSA’s greenhouse gas emissions
 by 6,801 tonnes (or 28%) per annum.

This will be brought about by direct action in the following categories:

UniSA will report performance on this action plan on an annual basis
 (2005 Greenhouse Challenge Plus Awards Entry), against the following organisational performance
 indicators:
