Overrides
Students with special circumstances can apply to enrol into a class that is not accessible through the myEnrolment system (i.e. an override).
If you need an override based on medical or disability grounds, contact the Learning Connection Disability Service for assistance with supporting documentation and to submit the request.
If you have special circumstances that are not based on medical or disability grounds, the types of overrides that may be considered and the different processes for you to follow are listed below.
- Full class override
- Time clash/Time conflict override
- Career/Permission/Requisites/Unit load overrides
It is important to remember that you are responsible for checking your enrolment online to ensure that you have enrolled in the correct classes.
Please note: approval of an override is not guaranteed and is decided on a case by case basis.
Full class override
If the class is full and there are special circumstances that mean you cannot select any other options, you need to apply for a full class override by submitting an online form below. Note that you should not contact academic staff or lodge a manual override form at Campus Central for a full class override, this kind of request is decided by designated staff in the School that owns the course. Due to OHSW requirements students can not be enrolled in classes where the maximum room capacity is already reached.
Follow the steps below to make sure you have all information needed before you access the online form.
- Identify the School that owns the course. Use the
Course search function
by entering the course name or Subject Area and Catalogue number (i.e.
EDUC 1014). The School details will be displayed in the blue section
under the course title.
- Make sure you have the class details of the full class, and if
applicable, alternative classes in case your first preference is not
possible. As the majority of courses will have multiple components (e.g.
lecture, tutorial or workshop), you will also need to provide
details of all related classes. This will ensure that you are
enrolled correctly in all course components upon approval of the
request.
- Access the online override form for full class and submit your request
You will be sent a response detailing the outcome of the process to your email account. In some cases you might need to enrol yourself via myEnrolment, and in others the override will be processed by Campus Central. By completing this form, you give permission to UniSA staff to enrol you in the courses listed in the request form.
Time clash/Time conflict override
If you believe that you are able to meet the required minimum attendance for two classes that occur at the same time, or if you have spoken to your course coordinator and arranged an alternative, you will need to apply for an override so that you can enrol in both. Enrol in one of the classes and then complete the online override form below for the class that is timetabled at the same time.
The form will be submitted to your home Campus Central office, and you will receive a confirmation to your email account when your request has been processed. Note that you do not need to gain authorisation from a staff member to lodge a time conflict override request but it is your responsibility to make sure that you meet the attendance and participation requirements for each course.
Before you access the online form, make sure you have the details of the override class and all related classes (if applicable). You also need to make sure that there is available room in the course before you lodge the request. If any of the classes detailed on your override form are full, your request will not be processed.
- Access the online override form for time conflict and submit your request
If you believe that there is a timetabling error and that the courses should not be clashing, please notify Campus Central. You also have the option to lodge a manual override form by visiting a Campus Central office.
Career/Permission/Requisites/Unit load overrides
Career, Permission, Requisites or Unit load overrides are requirements against a course that can only be authorised by the program director. If you believe there are special circumstances that mean you should not be subject to these conditions, you need to complete the manual override form and approach your program director for authorisation and signature. If the form is approved by the program director, you will then need to submit it to Campus Central for processing.
If you cannot enrol in a course through myEnrolment and are not sure why, contact your local Campus Central.
