Students enrolled in research degrees are associated with one of the research centres of the School, by the selection of their supervisor.
It is possible to carry out research which overlaps the broad focus of 2 research centres – usually you have a principal supervisor from one discipline or centre, with a second one from another.
The School also provides joint supervision with appropriate staff from other Schools within the University of South Australia. We are part of the Division of Education, Arts and Social Sciences and will support you to negotiate multi-disciplinary programs within that division or across divisions, as appropriate.
For prospective research degree students
In determining whether you wish to seek a place as a research student in the School of Education you will need to identify:
-
the broad requirements for the program: these can be found on the home pages of the various programs above; see also FAQs
-

-

-

Where the School of Education sits in the University
In dealing with the administrative requirements of a research degree be aware that there are 3 levels of decision-making beyond you and your supervisor. In terms of application, allocation of places and scholarships, enrolments, proposals, ethics protocols, management of data, privacy, confidentiality, annual reviews of progress, compliance with policies, selection of examiners, conferring degrees ...
The School Of Education is part
of:
Division of Education, Arts and Social Sciences
which is part of:
The University of South Australia
At each level there will be committees and groups which will be involved in decision-making so you will need to allow time for decisions to be made and proposals approved in the schedules you create for yourself etc.
An overview of what is involved:
Both the University’s and the Division’s
websites provide detailed information about the requirements of research
degrees, and should be perused carefully.
