Mandatory Notification Training for Student Teachers
Participation in a Mandatory Notification Training Program provides
access to the knowledge and skills you require to recognise and report
suspicion of child abuse or neglect in your work with children/young people.
The university strongly encourages you to undertake Mandatory Notification
Training as early as possible in your teacher education program.
Consequently, we advise you to register for and participate in a Mandatory
Notification Training Program with one of the providers suggested below.
PLEASE NOTE: Early Childhood students MUST have Mandatory
Notification Training before commencing their first practicum placement -
this is a REQUIREMENT not an option for the MBCE and MBCG programs
Mandatory Notification Training provides the certification required by all education employers for teachers seeking or engaged in employment in schools and settings.

You have legal responsibilities as a mandated notifier. We strongly advise you as a student teacher engaged in a practicum or working in some other capacity with children/young people to seek support and/or advice from your university or school staff if you are unsure of your responsibilities in this regard or to consult with a social worker by calling the Child Abuse Report Line on 13 14 78. However, your legal obligation to report, which you can do anonymously, overrides all other considerations. It is your responsibility to respond to this advice.
