Social Sustainability, Citizenship and Wellbeing
Research Group
The Social Sustainability, Citizenship and Wellbeing Research Group (SSCW) aims to build and sustain scholarship and research initiatives around the broad themes of social sustainability and citizenship, in particular wellbeing, relationships, identity and educational influence. These themes are especially pertinent due to the rapid and ever changing nature of society which places significant pressure on individual social competency, wellbeing, sense of belonging and connectedness across one’s lifespan. SSCW aims to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning to inform current and future teaching and learning. The research group also aims to research the significant issues and aspects of life relating to wellbeing, including philosophical and conceptual frameworks of wellbeing, and wellbeing in a variety of domains including the family, school, workplace and cultural contexts. Specifically the group has identified the following issues of interest:
- Teacher resilience
- Emergent teacher wellbeing
- Child and adolescent lives, learning and identity
- Curriculum, pedagogy and assessment for holistic wellbeing
- Inclusive approaches to diverse student needs
- Promotion, Prevention and Intervention mechanisms for At Risk individuals/groups
- Relationship building
- Bullying, harassment and violence in Schools
- Cyber relationships and bullying
- Peer relationships and development
- Conflict management
- Role of play, physical education, outdoor education and wilderness experiences and the contribution to wellbeing & education
- Multidimensional factors of wellbeing: Cognitive, spiritual, physical, social and emotional
