Professional Experience
Research Group
The Professional Experience Research Group (PER) are committed to developing an evidence base for innovation and change in professional experiences in pre-service teacher education. The research group encompasses the Professional Experience Scholarship group which has been in existence since 1995. This group engaged in reflection and professional dialogue based on readings from the professional experience literature, explored taken for granted assumptions around professional experience, examined and critiqued current practices and actively participated in the scholarship of teaching.
PER researchers work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including teacher educator colleagues, pre-service teachers, mentor teachers/early childhood mentors, site co-ordinators, systems' representatives and placement administrators. All PER members share a research interest in the development of high quality professional experiences. Research foci include:
- Partnerships
- Transition
- Pre-service teacher learning
- Professional identity
- Engaging pedagogy
- Mentoring
- International Perspectives
- Practice based learning
