Supervisors
Supervisors provide on-going academic advice and support to
candidates. Most candidates are assigned a Principal Supervisor and an
Associate Supervisor although some schools also embrace more
collaborative models of supervision through the appointment of
co-supervisors.
You can expect your supervisors to:
• negotiate clear expectations about what can reasonably be expected
from them, and from you, in productive working relationships.
• ensure that you are provided with information about important
procedures, regulations, services and support.
• establish supportive relationships with you, taking an interest in
your research projects, motivating you and encouraging open and
constructive communication.
• foster your involvement in a collaborative and scholarly research
culture.
Most supervisors are experienced and senior academics who know what it
takes to successfully complete a research degree.
