Higher Degree by Research Student Committee
In 2008 the Division of Education, Arts and Social Sciences is introducing an Higher Degree by Research Student Committee. The purpose of this committee is to act on behalf of all HDR students in matters relating to the HDR experience. The committee will give members the opportunity to:
- Become a student leader
- Advise on policies and procedures affecting the HDR student cohort
- Foster student involvement
- Building your curriculum vitae
- Network with other student leaders
- Contribute to the Division's HDR student initiatives such as the Autumn School and Research Forum
Student representatives will be elected by their peers for a 12-month period. The committee will be made up of 8 student representatives and members of the EAS Research Office. It is anticipated that the committee will meet bimonthly with some members also participating in two of the Divisions committees - the Divisional Research Degrees Committee and the Divisional Research Committee. Members will consist of full time/part time, internal/external and international students.
If you are concerned with student affairs and higher degree by research education and would like to nominate yourself, or if you know of someone who like to be nominated, please fill out the attached Nomination Form. You will need to discuss this with your supervisor as acceptance of nominations will be conditional upon approval by your supervisor. If you are nominating someone could you please indicate that they are aware of the nomination.
Once all nominations are received, the names and platform statements of the nominees will be sent to all HDR students and members will be selected by the HDR student cohort.
