Welcome to the International Initiatives of the Division of Education, Arts and Social Sciences
International student- Bachelor of Visual Arts DBVR
Akira Tamura originally commenced a degree in Social Work at UniSA, then
realised Visual Arts was what he really wanted to study. Now in the
final year of his degree, Akira has consistently received Distinctions
and High Distinctions, and in 2001 as a first year student, he won the
2001 UniSA Library Purchase Prize.
Akira has been very active on the contemporary art scene
in Adelaide, having already had four
solo exhibitions and participated in number of group exhibitions in
Adelaide, Perth and Miami since 2001. He also recently curated THE REVENGE
SHOW at Downtown Art Space at 233 Waymouth Street.
He says he enjoys the lively contemporary art scene in Adelaide, a city whose size makes it easier for emerging artists to network and to create and exhibit in alternative, artist-run spaces.
