The David Unaipon College of Indigenous Education and Research (David Unaipon College) aims to make a difference by researching the key contemporary issues shaping our nation's future. As the pre-eminent site for Indigenous research its research degrees in Indigenous and Australian Studies will enable candidates to undertake an individual, personalised program of research at Doctorate or Masters levels.
DUCIER Research coordinates all Indigenous research in the University and acts as a point of contact in establishing and facilitating research with external organisations.
To achieve this the David Unaipon College will:
- respond to research needs as identified and expressed by members of Indigenous communities.
- create an innovate research culture identifying research opportunities through the management and dissemination of relevant information to specific research interest groups;
- foster and develop Indigenous researchers from existing staff, from within the Indigenous student population as well as from organisations external to the University;
- establish and develop sustainable research linkages and partnerships with external organisations and industry partners and local government agencies.
- create a nuturing and supportive academic environment for researchers and students including the development of joint projects both locally and nationally;
- integrate web-base technology to assist the development of Indigenous research communities;
- develop and transfer research knowledge and skills to Indigenous postgraduate students.
- develop research policies and strategies which reflect 'best practice' in Indigenous research.

The David Unaipon College has strong links with the Australian goverment and departments including:
- Department of Health and Ageing;
- Department for Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts;
- Attorney General's Department; and
- Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.
The College also enjoys strong connections with State Government and departments including:
- Department of Health;
- Department for Families and Communities;
- Department for Education and Children's Services; and
- SA Water.
and a range of non-government organisations including:
- Aboriginal Health Council of SA;
- Aboriginal Legal Right's Movement; and
- the mining industry.
