Indigenous indicators - UniSA graduate qualities

University graduates, as professionals, play a significant role in shaping Australian society as future leaders, policy makers and professionals. The University of South Australia plays a vital role in ensuring that all graduates are aware of the influences affecting the pattern of relationships between Indigenous Australians and the broader community. For this reason students are provided with a range of specific skills, knowledge and understandings which underpin the University of South Australia Graduate Qualities 1, 5 & 6:

Graduate quality 1
A graduate of the University operates effectively with and upon a body of knowledge of sufficient depth to begin professional practice.

Indigenous indicator
Demonstrates an understanding of the needs, interests, protocols and perspectives of Indigenous groups.

Graduate quality 5
A graduate of the University is committed to ethical action and social responsibility as a professional and citizen.

Indigenous indicator
Considers the relationship between the construction of power and privilege and the ability of the discipline to perpetuate or dismantle social inequality with respect to Indigenous groups.

Graduate quality 6
A graduate of the University communicates effectively in professional practice and as a member of the community.

Indigenous indicator
Demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of Indigenous community protocols and communication styles.
