Community Information sessions

Community Information sessions are being conducted in regional centres throughout South Australia

They will provide an opportunity for family members and care givers to gain a better understanding of the management of clients with life limiting conditions as well as become more aware of the regional services available. Taking a holistic approach the researchers will provide information on coping with psychosocial and spiritual issues involving the journey of death, bereavement and beyond.

The sessions provide learning opportunities to:

• Meet expressed and potential needs of people with life-limiting conditions and their caregivers
• Develop skills enabling them to access people and services
• Meet with key people, experts and significant others
• Expand networks and contacts for mutual benefit
• Manage their situations – become independent or develop coping skills.

These information sessions are crucial for community capacity building and sustainability of the project.

Information sessions for health professionals will also be conducted in the future. For
