UniSA Palliative Care Research Group

The Palliative Care Research Group, based at the Centre for Regional Engagement, has successfully completed a number of projects since 2002, all having a focus on the improvement of palliative care service delivery in rural and regional areas:

• Lower North Health Palliative Care Service Review
• Caring Communities Project: Access and Education in Palliative Care

The community impact of these projects has included:

• Greater awareness of palliative care issues in the partner regions
• Palliative care issues discussion forum on yahoo.com.au
• Dedicated palliative care rooms set up in aged care facilities and rural hospitals
• Increased professional development in palliative care

Currently the group is undertaking a second project funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing: Pastoral Care, Counselling and Support.
