A Fair Go:
Bob Hawke’s Government in Focus

31 october 2023 -
2 february 2024

This year marks forty years since The Hon Bob Hawke AC was elected as Australia's 23rd Prime Minister. During his time as Prime Minister (1983-1991) Hawke guided the nation through a period of significant social and economic transformation. Under Hawke's leadership, the government implemented his vision for a more equitable and inclusive Australia. This included addressing disparities in educational opportunities, advancing Aboriginal rights, introducing Medicare and improving social security, implementing economic and industrial relations reforms, and bolstering Australia's national and international standing.

This exhibition offers a captivating display of both new and historical items from the University of South Australia's Bob Hawke Collection, providing a deeper exploration of the permanent exhibition: Advancing Australia Fair: Bob Hawke and his Government 1983-1991.

Presented by The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre and The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Library.
