Mr Paul Beard

Chief Operating Officer
Paul Beard was first appointed to UniSA in 2001 as Executive
Director and Vice President: Finance and Resources. In November 2009,
Paul took up a new role at UniSA as Chief Operating Officer with overall
responsibility for:
- Finance Unit – financial management, treasury and
strategic procurement.
- Planning & Institutional Performance Unit –
corporate planning and reporting, institutional
analytics and business intelligence.
- Information Strategy & Technology Services Unit –
central IT infrastructure, IT systems and services.
- Facilities Management Unit – campus infrastructure,
campus services and commercial services.
- Service Improvement Project – improving the service
environment and business practices to optimise support
arrangements for teaching and learning and research.
Paul has previously worked in senior roles in the private and public
sectors including:
- in the electricity industry in South Australia,
during a period of significant organisational and
industry change, in roles including Chief Financial
Officer of ETSA Power and Manager Finance with the new
private sector owner, AGL;
- as a Senior Manager with Deloitte in Adelaide and
the United Kingdom.
Paul is a Chartered Accountant and completed the Advanced Management
Program at the Harvard Business School in 2007.
Paul is also a Director on the Boards of:
- ITEK: ITEK’s role is to support the
commercialisation of UniSA research through the
formation of spin-off companies, licensing and the sale
of intellectual property (IP). ITEK also assists
external early stage ventures through the provision of
business incubation services.
- Open Universities Australia (OUA): OUA is
Australia’s leading online education organisation and
offers students a flexible way to access higher
education and enhance professional development through
distance education. It provides access to over 1000
units of study and 90 qualifications taught by a total
of 18 leading universities and other providers around
the country.
