New Technology Research Projects

In 2007 and 2008 students in the "BUSS 3048 Entrepreneurial Marketing for New Ventures" course combined their efforts to carry out a single project in each year.

Each project was designed so that teams of students were allocated to carry out different aspects of a research study to investigate the market for a new technology. Teams carried out either secondary data analysis, or carried out in-depth interviews, or carried out a quantitative survey.  Students also took part in a Scenario Network Mapping exercise. This gave students the opportunity to learn how to carry out a professional market research investigation into new technology. Details of the way in which the projects were organised are included in the research reports that can be downloaded (see below).

These projects were designed to support UniSA's STEP 2010 project for implementing the new Teaching and Learning Framework, and particularly to support the teaching-research nexus.

Electric Hybrid Conversion Service 2007

The class investigated the market for a service to convert existing passenger motor vehicles into electric hybrid vehicles - download the report.

Renewable Energy Technologies 2008

The class investigated the market for solar electric cells, wind generators, geothermal energy, and biogas systems at the domestic household and at the local or community levels - download the report.

In 2009, students taking this course will be given the challenge to develop a marketing plan to commercialise a new technology on a team by team basis, and will be offered three technology options to investigate. That is, the single project approach used in 2007 and 2008 will not be repeated in 2009.
