The course will be run in intensive mode.
Aim
The aim of this course is to help students understand and implement the process of corporate venturing or corporate entrepreneurship as an approach for corporate renewal. Corporate venturing can be defined as the starting of a new business venture from within an existing venture.
On completion of this course, students should be able to:

describe the different approaches to corporate venturing and explain how it is driven

explain the most appropriate situations for the different modes of corporate venturing

identify the resources, systems and organisation needed to support successful corporate venturing

develop a plan for implementing a corporate venturing activity for their business.
Syllabus
The nature and importance of corporate venturing for business renewal and growth; modes of corporate venturing; sourcing ideas and recognising opportunities for corporate venturing; marshalling human and financial resources and organising to support corporate venturing; planning and managing the corporate venturing process including exit strategies for the corporate venture; managing the impact of corporate venturing on the organisation.
Assessment
Assessment takes the following form:
- Individual assignment (1500 words): 25% of total marks
- Individual project report (5000 words): 60%
- Individual presentation of report: 15 %
