The Centre operates with a small and cohesive team, drawing upon like-minded individuals from other areas when required. Each team member has a strong business/entrepreneurship background with a passion for research and teaching in entrepreneurship and innovation.
Noel J. Lindsay, Adjunct Professor
Noel Lindsay is Adjunct Professor in the Centre for the Development of Entrepreneurs, School of Management, University of South Australia. Noel's research interests include both Indigenous and non-Indigenous entrepreneurship. He has authored/co-authored a number of papers that focus on opportunity recognition, entrepreneurial orientation, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, personal values, entrepreneurial attitude, private equity finance (business angel and venture capital), cultural influences on entrepreneurship, and family enterprise. He has extensive involvement in a large longitudinal research project in South Africa that focuses on South African Indigenous entrepreneurship. He supervises a number of doctoral students in the entrepreneurship area. Noel's professional experience includes corporate insolvency and corporate advisory work in the areas of investment readiness and private equity raisings. Noel has extensive entrepreneurial experience in founding and developing a number of growth oriented businesses in Australia, South Africa, and Malaysia. He also has venture capital experience having been a director of one of Australia's oldest venture capital firms for a number of years. He was Director of the CDE for three years. Before that, Noel was Director, Australian Centre for Family Business, Bond University and Director, Centre for the Development of Entrepreneurs, The University of Queensland.
Gido Mapunda, Lecturer
Dr. Gido Mapunda is a Program Director, School of Management, University of South Australia. He also is a member of the Centre for the Development of Entrepreneurs' research team at the University of South Australia. Gido's research focus is Indigenous entrepreneurship and community business enterprises. His recently completed PhD research was in this area where the principal research methodology was qualitative and interpretative. Since then, he has published a number of articles in the Indigenous area focusing on Australian and other Indigenous cultures. Gido is a member of the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders (AIATSI).
Peter Balan, Senior Lecturer
Peter teaches in the areas of Entrepreneurial Marketing and Entrepreneurial Planning. His research is in the field of the innovation capability of organisations and he is playing a key role in implementing research projects for the CRC in Sustainable Tourism and for Food SA. Gary Hancock, Sessional Lecturer
Gary was appointed a Research Associate in the Centre for the Development of Entrepreneurs, University of South Australia, in 2004. From an academic perspective, he has small business management, business start up, and entrepreneurship experience (both face to face and on-line) in a variety of areas including teaching, course development, administration, leadership, student supervision, and student mentoring. From a hands-on business perspective, Gary has experience in starting, operating, and harvesting growth-oriented ventures in franchise and non-franchise environments. Recently, he sold to a listed public company a large child care centre that he and his wife owned and developed. From a community perspective, Gary provides mentor support and advice to young entrepreneurs via the South Australian Young Entrepreneur Scheme (SAYES). Gary is carrying out PhD research in the field of early stage business angel financing. He is a member of SEAANZ, the Council of Privately Owned Child Care Centres, and Child Care Australia.
Wendy A. Lindsay, Sessional Lecturer

Wendy is a doctoral student at the University of South Australia. Her thesis topic focuses on the effectiveness of using entrepreneurship training to improve perceived well-being in South African Indigenous nascent entrepreneurs. Wendy's research interests include Indigenous entrepreneurship, opportunity recognition, cultural influences, values, and entrepreneurial attitude. Wendy has co-authored a number of papers in these areas. Wendy's academic experience extends to lecturing in the entrepreneurship area at both the undergraduate level (face-to-face) and MBA level (on-line). Her business experience includes general management in a large professional firm of architects and founding/co-founding businesses in the areas of financial management, tourism, and Indigenous entrepreneurship training.
Anton Jordaan, Sessional Lecturer
Anton is a doctoral student at the University of South Australia. His doctoral research focuses on entrepreneurial attitudes and values of South African Indigenous nascent entrepreneurs. He has co-authored a number of papers in the Indigenous entrepreneurship area and lectures on entrepreneurship in UniSA's off-shore MBA program. Anton has extensive entrepreneurial experience where he has co-founded and harvested a number of growth oriented entrepreneurial businesses in the training and higher education sectors. He is a CPA, and a member of CPA Australia.
