Professor Gene Whittenburg

- Following his highly successful three week visit as the first RPP
member of CAGS, Professor Gene Whittenburg has headed back overseas.
Gene possessed an an open and engaging approach to discussions with
staff and students about their and his own research.
- Staff who have managed to speak with Gene will have been
delighted with his constructive suggestions, presentations and
just his presence in CAGS.
- Gene has held several formal meetings and made contributions
following presentations and discussions with Professor Gerry
Griffin, Professor Janek Ratnatunga, Professor Roger Burritt,
Professor Lee Parker, Rob Whait, Ian Tregoning, Ratnam Alagiah,
Gerard Stone, Jo Tingey, Tuyet Dam, Associate Professor Phil
Hancock (UWA visitor), and Dr John Wilkinson (in his role as
Manager: Academic Accreditation AACSB).
- Gene also undertook the following activities:
- Presented a staff seminar in the lunchtime seminar series,
- Was a discussant for 4 ½ hours at the special seminar for
the CAGS Accounting and Finance Education Research Group on
‘Accounting for the future: more than the numbers’ a session on
higher skills for future accountants led by Associate Professor
Phil Hancock (UWA),
- Mixed in at Fika,
- Was present at the AFAANZ booth talking with visitors
interested in accounting and finance at the school (as well as
observing the consumption of coffee provided by our barista),
participated at the sustainability-related research and family
day, and was generally available to meet with staff and students
throughout his stay.
