Anthropometric survey data
The CAA will be building a significant database of anthropometric information. It is potentially valuable to a range of industry sectors. For example:
- General clothing manufacturers (producing or supplying within the Australian marketplace)
- Anthropometric data would enable the Australian clothing industry to more accurately size their production to the requirement of the Australian population. This could be in the fashion industry (more relevant sizing), the sports wear industry (more accurate product due to more refined market segmentation - demographics) or industry specific requirements such as OHS and emergency services clothing and footwear
- Australian furniture manufacturers
- The ability to size Australian made furniture to better reflect the Australian population’s anthropometric characteristics would provide Australian manufacturers with a sustainable competitive advantage over imported products
- Australian Original Equipment Manufacturers (Automotive Industry)
- The ability to incorporate into the Australian original equipment automotive industry Australian anthropometric characteristics would provide Australian manufacturers with a competitive advantage over imported products. Examples could include seat design (shape/size), cabin lay-out (leg length, pedal distances and controls access), safety equipment such as seat belt anchorage points, and air bag positioning
