In January, 2008, Division Executive decided to conduct a review of the Business core, with the following aims and objectives:

To this end Division Executive has established a Core Review Committee, and a Core Review Reference Group. The Core Review Committee will provide advice to the Core Review Reference Group which will make the final decision concerning the structure and content of the core. The membership and terms of reference of these groups are described below.

Core Review Reference Group

This group is chaired by the PVC Professor Gerry Griffin and comprises all members of BUE Division Executive and Tania Kanellos, Coordinator Academic Services.

Division Executive

Division Executive consists of Heads of Schools, the Deans: Teaching & Learning, International and Research, the Division Manager, and is chaired by PVC Gerry Griffin.

Core Review Committee
This group comprises the Dean Teaching and Learning as chair and convenor. Other members are:
  • Executive Officer - Tania Kanellos
  • Project Officer - Natasha Caulfield
  • Members : Dr John Wilkinson (Program Director School of Marketing), A/Prof John Dawes (HOS nominee School of Marketing), A/Prof Stephen Boyle (Associate Head School of Management), Jenny Davies (Program Director School of Management), A/Prof Brenton Fiedler (Associate Head School of Commerce), Gerard Stone (Program Director School of Commerce).

Terms of reference of Core Review Committee
  • Review and confirm the purpose of the core within the context of STEP 2010
  • Review the structure, content, teaching methods and assessment practices of the current core in the context of STEP 2010 and EQUIS requirements in relation to social and environmental sustainability
  • Review concerns with the current core, including success rates across the core and amongst specific program cohorts
  • Benchmark against other institutions nationally and internationally
  • Develop several options for the consideration of the Core Review Reference Group
