Research degree programs
The Division of Business offers three research degrees in business that can be taken in any discipline area that we have qualified and available supervision in.
- Honours Degree in Business/Management/Commerce (DHBB)
- Masters Degree by Research (DMRU)
- PhD in Business and Management (DPBU)
Honours Degree in Business/Management/Commerce
The Honours program provides opportunities for advanced study in core and elective areas in Business and Management for students who have completed an undergraduate degree in a business discipline. It is intended to develop students' ability to undertake research in a selected area, and apply the results where applicable.
Successful completion of the program prepares students for postgraduate research at this and other universities and offers an advantage in industry employment over the undergraduate qualification. Students complete three coursework components and then spend the second half of the year (full-time) working with their Supervisor to prepare and submit their final thesis.
For more information on the program structure, eligibility criteria and application procedure see the Honours website and contact Dr Manjit Monga for further advice on these and finding a supervisor.
Masters Degree by Research
Candidates undertaking the Masters Degree by Research must make 'a contribution to knowledge and/or to the application of knowledge'. Assessment is via thesis examination only (ie no coursework) and candidates are allocated up to 2 years full-time to prepare their final thesis. At least one examiner will be external to the University and both examiners are selected based on their expertise in the thesis area.
