About the Colloquium

Colloquium 2008The Colloquium is a yearly event that brings students together to share their research across disciplines and Schools. The Colloquium has a number of academic and social aims that include:

Research students are required as part of their Candidature to give 2 presentations as a minimum at the Postgraduate Research Colloquium. Students who have already presented their work at other seminars, conferences etc are still required to present further developments of their ideas at this Colloquium.

Colloquium 2005Students are required to give a presentation, which embodies work they have been doing as part of their candidature. This might be a summary of work so far, a part of their research, a summary of results, or a discussion of methodological issues that they have confronted. There is no pre-determined view about what is appropriate; the guideline is what other researchers in the Division may find of interest, and what candidates would like to get feedback about.  Please note that students are invited to attend the Colloquium, whether or not they present.

Students are encouraged to attend for the entire day (although if work prohibits this, part-day attendance is fine) so as to hear about other students research and have the opportunity to compare notes with them.  Supervisors and other academic staff also attend providing valuable feedback to all students.
