Information for staff
Previously School-based, the Honours in business/management/commerce program was centralised to the Division of Business, Dean Research Office in 2003.
We have over 24 academic colleagues interested in supervising Honours theses and Special Topics and we are seeking more.
Supervision opportunities
Who can supervise?
Colleagues with PhDs are sought to supervise Honours thesis or an Honours Special Topics course as they have been through the entire research process. You do not have to be a senior academic to supervise an Honours thesis. Colleagues without PhDs who have supervised an Honours thesis before, or have other supervisor experience in research, are also sought. Based on this experience, you would be considered eligible. Colleagues at Level B and C are especially sought, because you may not have had a previous opportunity to supervise a research student and Honours provides that opportunity.
What is involved?
The Honours thesis is demanding due to the short timeframe. There is not much room to move around deadlines. For details on the requirements for Special Topics see the program information guide.
How do I join?
If you are interested, can you please email Dr Manjit Monga with responses to the following:
- Whether you are interested in supervising a Special Topics course.
- Whether you are interested in supervising an Honours thesis
- Your specific research areas in which you can supervise
- Any training or development you have had for supervision - formal or informal
- Your actual supervisory experience in research at Honours level, or at coursework Masters thesis level, or PhD level
Your details will be included in the Honours register for students to use when searching for a Supervisor.
