Career in academia
An Honours degree provides skills in literature review, development of research questions, research design, data analysis, and project write-up. Honours graduates can gain entry directly to PhD and Masters Research degrees with an Honours level of First Class or 2A. They have the requisite initial training and expertise to be admitted to a research degree. An Honours degree at H1 level also allows the graduate to be competitive for a government or university research scholarship. Honours prepares students for an academic career through the component that develops research skills.
