'While studying my degree I deliberately sought out contract work to
complement my studies and gain experience. I secured an administrative
role with Robern Menz - the makers of SA icon The Fruchoc. Once I
graduated, a position was created for me as the Sales and Marketing Officer.
This was partly to do with the fact I had gained employment in an
organisation that had marketing opportunities but it was also the
recognition and respect my employers had for my degree
- my bosses are UniSA
Alumni so they have first hand experience of the quality of the programs
offered by the University. Now I can also see the benefit of my
studies as my employment requires a diverse range of marketing knowledge - I
deal with everything from product development to market research,
promotions, advertising and client relations. Because the marketing
degree covers such a broad range of marketing applications it has matched
the variety of roles I am responsible for perfectly. The knowledge I
have acquired is completely transferable into 'real world' marketing roles.'
