Guidelines and Criteria
2011 Division of Business Awards
2010 was an outstanding year for the Division of Business; we
continued to deliver significant improvements across all key performance areas,
including research outputs, financial stability and growth, a deepening in key
relationships with industry and government, and an increasing national and
international profile.
Our achievements in 2010 culminated in the reaccreditation of
the Division by the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), the leading
international accreditation for business schools. The Division of Business is
one of only eight Australian business schools accredited by EQUIS, with 130
eminent business schools accredited across 38 countries worldwide.
The EQUIS Awarding Panel praised the Division of Business for
the quality of its faculty, its emphasis on strong research capability and
internationally excellent research output. This positive feedback was reinforced
by the Division's results from the Federal Government's first Excellence in
Research for Australia (ERA) assessment exercise which confirmed that we are
clearly a leading research Business School - our research in the areas of
Accounting, Auditing & Accountability, Business & Management, Law, and Tourism
was ranked 'world class'.
The second annual Division of Business gala awards event, held
Friday 6th May, provided a rare opportunity for Division of Business staff
members to come together to acknowledge the dedication, initiative, and
innovation demonstrated by all our staff over the past year, and to celebrate
the achievements of some outstanding individuals.
This year we continued to recognise excellence in all key
pillars of our business, in the Research and Teaching and Learning portfolios;
in Internationalisation, in External Engagement, and of our Professional Staff.
We presented a revised Excellence in Teaching in Business Award, and an
additional Research Award, for 'Supervisor of the Year'.
The Division Awards Selection Panel and sub-panels had a most
difficult task determining the award recipients from a high quality pool of
award nominees. Congratulations to all our award nominees, and the award
recipients. Your commitment to excellence is the foundation on which the
Division's aspiration to be consistently acknowledged as one of the top business
schools in Australia rests.
