StudentsStudents walking to lectures - City West Campus

Welcome to the University of South Australia and the Division of Business. Wherever you are from, whatever your background and whatever you are studying, I hope that you have a challenging and rewarding time while you are here, and that your studies will prove useful to you in your working life.

UniSA is a large and diverse organization. We have over 2,000 staff and 30,000 students from all over the world. Many of our students are offshore. Our global focus will enable you to embark on your chosen career with a truly international perspective. Through our links with overseas universities you will have the opportunity to study offshore and learn more about the world’s business and educational communities, and the many career choices that they present.

The Division is internationally recognised for the quality of its programs accredited by the European Quality Improvement System, and the first University in Australia to have its offshore programs accredited.

The Division’s academic staff are actively involved in research and have many links with industry and the professions. What you learn during your studies will provide you with the latest thinking about critical issues of business and management. We want to challenge and to excite you. We want you to share your experience to enrich the learning environment of your fellow students. And we want you to make a difference to the world. I hope that we make a difference to you.

Business

The Division of Business provides research and consultancy services to companies around the world. Many of its students already work in a wide range of businesses, and a significant number of its postgraduate students are senior executives in Australia and Asia.

Through the Division, the University of South Australia is the principal sponsor of International Business Week, South Australia’s premier event for exporters and for companies considering the leap from domestic to world markets.

The long running Working Links Seminar Series provides business and the professions with the latest research of the Division’s leading academics in an informal and relaxed environment.

Working in collaboration with other universities, industry, government and community groups, the Division focuses on applied research that produces substantial benefits for both the business and wider communities.

The main aim of these endeavours is to find solutions to real life issues and problems, provide assistance to business and offer new and relevant learning opportunities for students.

Research includes investigation into improved manufacturing processes, organisational development, entrepreneurship and innovation, change in the workplace, marketing and information systems. These efforts are supported by the Division's work in consultancy projects for organisations throughout Australia and Asia Pacific region.

These research programs are promoted through the Division’s research centres.
