Network enabled devices are devices that can be plugged into the University's IT network, generally via a blue network cable, into a network point on the wall. This includes such equipment as composite print, fax and scanning stations, as well as wireless transmission devices.
The purchase and installation of any networked devices other than workstations must be approved by the Divisions IT Manager.
This will prevent problems such as the inadvertent addition of devices that are either inappropriate or incorrectly configured, and will ensure the integrity of the University's network.
This complies with Information Technology Services Unit policy regarding equipment and software that is able to interact with networking facilities.
