BUE-IT Support suggest specific hardware specifications
for new PC purchases for compatibility of the latest
Operating System and software configurations. This is to ensure hardware
does not require upgrading within the 3 yr
warranty timeframe.
Desktop specifications
Using the
ISTS desktop hardware specifications as a base, BUE-IT Support suggest the following for normal
or high-end PC purchases.
Desktop PC hardware specifications (04/2008)
- Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600 (2.40 GHz, 8MB L2 Cache)
- Intel Q35 Express Chipset Motherboard (Onboard Video, Audio, LAN-(UniSA approved)
- 4GB NECC Dual Channel DDR2 800MHz SDRAM
- 160GB Serial ATA (7200RRPM - 8MB Cache) Harddrive
- 16x DVD writer
- 22" LCD ISTS approved monitor
- Front USB & Audio
- Microsoft multimedia keyboard Microsoft optical wheel mouse
- Mini tower or desktop case
Desktop PC hardware supplier service
- 3 year NBD on-site warranty
- Installation, configuring and testing of network card
- Assignment of UNISA ownership number and affixing label to CPU case

Laptop specifications
Using the
ISTS laptop

laptop purchases.

Low-end hardware (2008)
The following is the minimum hardware that is needed as a
low-end system or an existing system to run the
Standard Operating Environment (SOE) along with other UniSA
applications as required.
- Pentium IV
- 2 Gb RAM
- 80 Gb HDD
The guidelines above are designed to provide adequate hardware power to
run the following software configurations.
Software used on BUE built systems
- Windows XP Professional SP2

Standard Operating Environment (SOE) including Office 2007
- Corporate applications (eg Medici, Syllabus Plus and others)
- Other software/applications and customisations specific for environment
and supporting issues.
