Short term generic accounts for Schools
Policy 9: Temporary domain accounts for visitors of Division
There are five temporary accounts created for short term visitors (4 week
duration), one for
each School (Management, Commerce, Marketing and Graduate School of
Business), and one for the Business Division Office.
These accounts are disabled when not in use.
To activate these accounts please log an IT Helpdesk
request
and include the following information:
- The user's name, organisation and contacts
- Liaison person in the School or in the Division
- Arrival date and finish date
- What other resources need to be accessed, eg. printer queues,
shares etc.
Requests that do no provide all the required information will be
returned to the relevant
School IT Liaison Officer for their attention.
Note: end users must be made familiar with the "Use of
University Information Technology Facilities" policy before using an
UniSA account. For more details please refer to
Acceptable use of Information Technology (IT) facilities
Once the email has been received, BUE-IT will enable the account and reply
back with the relevant logon details.
Please note:
- These accounts will not have University email associated with them, and
Internet usage will be charged back to the school
- Accounts will only be activated for a period of 4 weeks
- These accounts cannot log on over weekends or between 10pm to
7am (set by ISTS, can be changed if necessary)
- UniSA network has firewall protection. Some special
Internet access (such as FTP, video conferencing) are blocked on the
majority of computers
- Visitors may use a wireless connection on their individual
laptops to access our network and the Internet and will not require
these accounts. Details on configuring a wireless connection
can be found at the

- BUE-IT will assist with simple IT queries or issues but we do not
provide support to complex IT issues on non-plated laptops
