Purchase of Laptops

Policy 6: The Division will provide support only for notebooks purchased from the University's preferred suppliers.

Support for laptops owned by visiting lecturers will be considered individually. Staff with special needs must present a business case to the IT Manager, who will then make a recommendation to the PVC (or in their absence, the Division Manager), and negotiate with ISTS (Information Strategy and Technology Services) if necessary. Such purchases must not be made without prior approval.
 

The Division will endeavour to support other laptops (from non preferred suppliers or other brands) that have been purchased between July 2005 and June 2008 provided that this does not compromise support to the rest of the Division.
