Policy 2: The Division will not be responsible for providing support to non-University owned equipment
To comply with various University Policies, the Division is not responsible for the provision of support to non-university owned equipment, that is, equipment which DOES NOT have a UNISA Blue Plate.. If it can be proved that the University owns such equipment, the onus is on the end-user to organise a UNISA Blue Plate Number for it. This can be arranged by contacting ISTS Helpdesk on ext 2500.
All outsourcing agreements that have been entered into by the University with regards to the provision of hardware support are only applicable to University owned computers. When a call is logged with the IT Helpdesk or a preferred supplier, a University blue plate number must be quoted before any service can be provided.
All software agreements that the University has entered into are also only applicable to University owned computers. The Division would be breaching University Software License agreements if software purchased under such agreements are installed on a Non-University owned computer.
A visiting or short term staff member can apply for a UNISA Red Plate by contacting IT Helpdesk on ext 25000.
