Program structure

Students entering the BIS Program will have completed the first two years of a relevant undergraduate degree. The program is a two year full time study load.

Third Year (1st year of BIS program - completion of BIS graduate degree)
During the first half of the year, students work full time with an industry partner, gaining valuable skills through industry experience. During the placement, students undertake an industry project and complete a component of Communication In The Workplace. Students also complete two other full time courses during this time.
During the second half of the year, students undertake four full time courses (1 study period).

Fourth Year (Masters Year)
The Masters year consists of eight academic courses and two industry placements. The courses are undertaken during 12 calendar months and are balanced with the industry placements to provide an even workload.

The first industry placement takes place over a 10 week period during summer (early December to early February). It comprises a group project with students acting as a team of consultants, undertaking a special project for the partner organisation.
The second industry placement is an individual student project which takes place during the second half of the year.

These skills and experience build on the academic foundation of the program making graduates of the BIS program highly employable.

The three placements also allow for industry to get a taste of what UniSA and the BIS program has to offer. With local, national and multi national companies partnering the program, employment opportunities are high. Many graduates of the program are employed straight from their final placement.

BIS Graduates are ready for the real world. That's why they always find the best jobs in the best companies all over Australia. Every graduate of the program has a substantial amount of experience working on cutting edge projects for some of Australia's biggest companies.

Social activities

DBBI / MBIS students develop a healthy social life as a close working group of like-minded individuals. Many social activities and events are organised to make sure that students have a great time inside and outside the program. From pub crawls to dinners to cultural activities, because the BIS program attracts students with varying cultural backgrounds, there is always something going on.

After all, one of the best traits as an individual and as a business professional is the ability to work well in a team. What better way to develop the teamwork skills you require than to share in the ongoing social activities provided by the program. Each year there is at least one standout student who will take the lead of a social coordinator. For more information, speak to one the current students.
