Become a partner
As a BIS partner, your organisation will join a growing list of
businesses that have reaped the rewards of the BIS program.
Partners benefit from having direct access to the latest pool of
talent and the best business graduates in the state. If you
decide to join you will be able to have a student visit your
organisation for five months of the year, who will take on a
project that will benefit both your company and the student.
If you decide to sponsor a student, benefits include:
Having a major say
Industry Partners have the ability to contribute to the design, development and delivery of the program.
You get a top quality resource
Each Partner gets a Masters student to undertake an industry placement in their workplace.
You shape the quality of graduates
Industry Partners have the ability to contribute to the design, development and delivery of the program.
During industry placements students are expected to
perform at a level that meets the standards of the organisation. Put under
these real world conditions the students develop exceptional qualities and skills,
resulting in graduates that are ready for work and highly sought after.
You pick the best of the crop
Through the industry placements the partners see
first hand the level of student skills and capabilities available, and
students gain an appreciation of the culture and management style of the
partner. This increases the suitability of the student for recruitment
later if he or she wishes to join the partner company on graduation.
You get to network
Through the program organisations can network
with each other and the University, and enjoy access to special activities,
research and the access to School of Accounting and Information Systems
services (eg, electronic meeting systems).
Having joined the program, a partner will have the opportunity
to:
Sponsor one student place for a two year period.
Elect a Board Representative and Industry Mentor.
The Board
Representative can attend the BIS Board meetings where issues
related to the program are discussed. Partner organisations can also
join other committees including the BIS Board Executive and the
Marketing Committee.
Host a student within their organisation
for five months during each
of the industry placement semesters. The student is required to
complete a project of value to the organisation. During the
placement the elected industry mentor will assess and provide
guidance to the student.
Actively participate
in the student selection process for the program each year.
