BioCity@UniSAA gecko on a log in the City of Adelaide

BioCity@UniSA is a research centre focussed on the sustainability of cities, the conservation of biodiversity, and the maintenance of the natural processes that sustain life, underpinned by values of community education and participation. Growing city populations are placing increasing pressure on the natural environment to provide space, energy, water, food, construction materials, pharmaceuticals, assimilation of wastes, fresh air, and places to recreate. Research and education are required to guide change and make cities sustainable.

BioCity@UniSA is based within the School of Natural and Built Environments at the University of South Australia. As collaborative and multidisciplinary research is a key to addressing complex environmental issues, the centre includes researchers from universities, government institutions, and private organisations. Research disciplines include urban biodiversity, ecology, hydrology, geology, civil engineering, materials, spatial sciences, urban and regional planning, construction, surveying and environmental management.
