Dr
Simon Shurville is the new Program Director of BIM. He is an experienced
academic and project manager with extensive experience in leading
innovative courses, projects and services in higher education. He has
taught Information Systems and related subjects for Brighton University,
City University, Cranfield University, the University of Essex, the Open
University and the University of Oxford. He was also project director of
the managed learning environment project at the University of Sussex and
a project manager for the University of Oxford. He has also directed a
successful e-learning consultancy and developed knowledge based systems
in the financial services industry. His public service work includes
higher education for those with disabilities and assistant editorship of
the international journal Campus-Wide Information Systems.
Simon holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, an MA in Change Management
and a BA (hons) in Computing with Artificial Intelligence. He has
subject knowledge in artificial intelligence, change management,
e-business and e-transformation, entrepreneurship, information systems,
innovation management, knowledge management, project management and
learning and teaching applied at graduate and postgraduate levels both
face-to-face and blended contexts. He is a Chartered IT Professional, a
Fellow of the British Computer Society and a Fellow of the Higher
Education Academy.
Simon researches e-learning and change management of e-learning and
other information systems. He recently co-edited a double special issue
of the Journal of Organizational Transformation and Social Change on ICT
Driven Change in Higher Education and two special issue of Campus-Wide
Information Systems on Educational Technology and Australasian
Educational Technology. He is currently co-editing a special issue of
Campus-Wide Information Systems on the changing role of senior
educational technologists and managing themed issues on Chinese
E-Learning, Personal Learning Environments and Web 2.0 in Higher
Education.
Campus-Wide Information Systems publishes cutting-edge research and case
studies relating to administrative, academic and library computing, as
well as other educational technologies. The journal analyses the latest
theories, applications and services relating to planning, developing,
managing, using and evaluating information technologies in higher
education. Simon is assistant editor with responsibility for themed
issues. He has recently edited a special issue on Australasian
e-learning and is currently managing special issues on:
Simon married in McLaren Vale in 2006 and then migrated to Australia in
September 2007. He likes to verify the opinions of James Halliday
whenever possible (preferably at the cellar door) and enjoys live blues
and country music (preferably at Clancys Fish Pub in Freo).
