Chair of Business Information Management
My name is Paula Swatman and I am the State Records of South
Australia, Fuji Xerox, State Library of South Australia Professor of
Business Information Management.
The Graduate Diploma and Master of Business Information Management
and Library and Information Management is a brand new set of
qualifications to train people in library studies. These two
programs will replace the existing Graduate Diploma and Master of
Information Studies currently offered by the School of Communication at
the University of South Australia.
These new degrees take a very 21st century approach to the teaching of
library and information management, they not only include the most
up-to-date information but also ensure that students will gain some
in-service training which is something that libraries around this
country have been asking us for many, many years.
These two news degrees won't be accredited by ALIA for sometime because
we cannot accredit the degrees until they have been running for at least
a year. But once they are accredited that accreditation will be
retrospective so students who do enrol in these degrees need have no
fear that they will end up without an ALIA accredited degree.
