What do I need to do to enrol and what are the entry requirements?
Entry to these programs is via
- sign in and proceed by following all instructions and attaching any
relevant documentation that is requested to complete your application.
The Graduate Certificate of BIM requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent OR 5 years of professional experience within any area. The Graduate Diploma and Master of BIM requires a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent qualification.
Is this degree available via HECS?
Yes these programs are now HECS based. Please view the information carefully.
What are my likely time commitments for this degree?
The rule of thumb for all
university degree courses is 10-12 hours per week per course (including
lectures and tutorials, if you’re planning to study on-campus). All courses
for the BIM degree programs will be available online, so if you have major
time pressures you may find this a more convenient mode of study. One very
effective approach is to allocate a full day (or equivalent) per week for
each course – this will ensure you have time to do the reading and work on
any assignments, without needing to rush at the last minute.
You can enrol at any ‘speed’ you like in any of these programs. If you haven’t studied for a
while, you might prefer to take on just one course in your first Study
Period to get you back into the studying frame of mind.
-
one or two courses per Study Period constitutes a part-time study load.
-
three or four courses per Study Period constitutes a full-time study load.
If I change programs within the University environment and both programs are HECS based do I need to complete a new form?
Yes. If you are enrolled in program and transfer to another which is also HECS based you will need to complete a new form by going to enrol online - sign in and visit the Commonwealth Systems Program and follow the prompts. The reason being is programs quite often have different HECS Bands.
Can I study part time?
Yes, you can enrol as a part-time student. 1, 2 or 3 courses constitutes part-time study – it’s really up to you .
Are any scholarships available?
No not at this time.
Can I obtain credit for an existing qualification?
We do not anticipate offering credit for existing courses – students who already have a library qualification, for example, are encouraged to consider extending their qualifications in other areas. If you think there is a special reason why you should be given credit for one or more courses, please contact Dr Simon Shurville.
Are these programs
accredited?
The programs are not
accredited as yet. The programs need to be taught for one year before this is considered.
Please note that meetings with relevant staff from the Records Management
Association of Australasia; Australian Society of Archivists have been scheduled
to discuss the accreditation process and will be undertaken in 2009.
I am trying to complete my
application online for the Masters program and it says it is not available.
What am I doing wrong?
You have inadvertently started an application in Research Apply Online where
DMBF will not be found. To rectify this problem you will need to start your
application again from the beginning, including registering again and
obtaining a new Applicant Id.. When you get the option, please select the
"standard postgraduate” and not the one “by research”.
I am currently enrolled in a
program at UniSA and I want to do this program. How do I
change over?
It is recommended that you speak to the Program Director of your current
program and
Dr
Simon Shurville the Program Director for the Business
Information Management programs, who will be more than happy to answer any
questions you may have regarding transferring to the new program.
If you are enrolled in a program
that comes under the

are permitted to transfer between programmes and will need to seek approval
by completing a

Campus Central.
If you are enrolled in a program
outside of the Division mentioned above you will need to go to
UniSA Apply Online
and complete a new application.

If I study externally, or online, where do I find the information and materials I need for my course?
